'Slumber Party' reminds me that I should dig up more Pike novels. Nell's family moved away after the accident, but the girls have kept in touch and now they're in their last year of high school and this may be their last chance to get together like old times. There was an accidental fire and Nicole died and Nell was left permanently disfigured. Eight years before Lara, Dana, Misty, Rachael, Nell and Nell's little sister Nicole had a slumber party at Dana's. It will be the best weekend of their lives and it may help finally put to rest the bad memories of that last slumber party. There will be skiing during the day and games and parties at night. Lara and her friends are excited for a weekend with their old friend Nell.
This was a scary little horror tale.I am a Pike fan, of his early stuff and this one should not be missed. I knew (SORT OF) where it was going but that does not mean I was not completely creeped out by the whole Eerie premise including the basement scene where some girls are held captive. It is creepier then many of Pike's earlier stuff. This is a book you read for fun if you want to be a bit creeped out. It is the first time all the girls have been together since a tragedy in their past. Nell, Lara, Dana, Rachel.are all alone at this ski lodge. Fire and a bit of Pyromania is thrown in. The whole book takes place at a ski lodge with a group of girls. So too does atmosphere.Īnd man oh man have we atmosphere here.
The fact is this is YA Mystery but GOOD and QUALITY YA mystery. This little book packs a heck of a demented and creepy punch.
